Most of the day gets swallowed by a screen — a phone, a tablet, something. This is the one thing on my table that isn't. I opened the box and found 32 separate pieces waiting to be sorted out. Every stage gave me something to actually work on — lining up the frame, fitting the wheels, working out where the smaller parts belonged. Bit by bit, a racing bicycle started taking shape in front of me. I didn't expect putting it together to be the satisfying part, but it was.
